Pennard House

Country House Wedding Venues

We’ve had a great time shooting at Pennard House this year. If you’re looking at country house wedding venues, Pennard House should definitely be on your list to see wedding venues in Somerset. As wedding photographers, we found so many beautiful spots around the gorgeous grounds and Harry who manages it is great and so helpful!

Pennard House

Pennard House is one of the most unique wedding venues we have been to this year. The house itself is incredibly grand and the back opens out onto a large, long lawn that continues all the way down to the gorgeous 14th Century village Church of All Saints, which you can access by the cute gate at the bottom of the lawn… it’s such a picturesque way to arrive back to your reception!

The church itself is incredibly stunning and so light, which makes it great for wedding photography! There is even a balcony at the back which we were able to get up to and take photos from, which is great to have a different perspective.

There’s also a whole other section of gardens which you can find by walking through another gorgeous little gate to the side, and brings you out by a Victorian swimming pool! This part of the gardens is stunning and we have been able to get some fantastic portrait shots here in the day.

The wedding breakfast is in the Coach House. This is a converted 18th century coach and stable house, and looks amazing once all the table decorations are in place.

…and there is a great atmosphere when it is time for the speeches.

To the front of Pennard House there are some gorgeous fields and we were able to take our couple James & Kim out here as the sun set to get some awesome shots in the long grass. These fields are a dream to shoot for a wedding photographer!

We love camping… and glamping, and that’s another reason we loved it here at Pennard House because they had a field full of tipis that your guests can stay in!

John does a lot of work for Canopy & Stars and at Pennard House there is also a converted shepherds hut called the Lovestruck, so the night before the wedding we were staying literally next door in the shepherds hut taking photos… it was great to wake up and stroll to the wedding venue :)

The way they have built the lights in the Coach House means that in the day you don’t notice them, and it therefore keeps its rustic aesthetic. But once the sun goes down, the lights create an awesome party atmosphere!

Pennard House is definitely high on our list of recommended venues, as well as all of the things we have mentioned, we love the relaxed vibe.
